BOB WICKERS – President & CEO
For over 20 years Bob Wickers has provided strategic communication and media consulting services for presidential campaigns, statewide candidates and corporate clients throughout the United States and in Eastern and Central Europe.
Mr. Wickers served as media consultant and senior adviser to Mitt Romney for President. As a member of both the campaign’s strategy and creative teams in Boston, Mr. Wickers provided strategic guidance during the primary and general elections and wrote and produced television advertising. Mitt Romney for President was Mr. Wickers’ second national campaign. In 2008 he served as lead strategist, pollster, and media consultant to Presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee – who won the Iowa Caucus and seven other states.
In 2010 he guided the successful primary and general election campaigns of Governor Robert Bentley (AL) and Attorney General Scott Pruitt (OK). Over the past decade his clients have also included Former Governor – and current US Senator – Mike Johanns (NE), US Senator Norm Coleman (MN) and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst (TX),
Mr. Wickers was part of the American team that guided Russian President Boris Yeltsin’s successful re-election campaign in 1996. That effort earned him and his colleagues a TIME Magazine cover story and the International Consultant of The Year Award presented by the American Association of Political Consultants. He was the American adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány in the Premier’s historic 2006 re-election campaign – the first time a Hungarian government was re-elected since the fall of Communism; and Mr. Wickers also consulted directly to former Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase and Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
Mr. Wickers has been a guest lecturer at New York University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences-Department of Politics, and has participated in panel discussions and seminars at the University of Southern California’s Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics and the University of California -Berkeley’s Institute of Government Studies.
Mr. Wickers has been a longtime member of the American Association of Political Consultants. He began his career as a consultant to the California Senate Republican Caucus and on the staff of U.S. Senator Pete Wilson (R-CA). Bob Wickers is married, has two children and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. He holds a B.A. in political science.
Carolyn Barber is one of the top political media directors in America. She has over a decade of political media planning and placement experience overseeing the television, radio, print outdoor and digital advertising campaigns for hundreds of major statewide Republican candidate campaigns, ballot initiatives, and independent expenditures across the United States.
In the 2008 cycle, Carolyn managed the media placement for Governor Mike Huckabee’s campaign for US President, including both national cable and local television spot advertising in numerous key states. In 2010 she directed statewide media placement for Gov. Robert Bentley of Alabama, and in past elections has placed media for dozens of US Congressional candidates, ballot initiatives, and statewide races for Lt. Governor David Dewhurst of Texas, Attorney General Jon Bruning of Nebraska, Attorney General Scott Pruitt of Oklahoma, among many others.
In addition to her media expertise, Carolyn has extensive experience managing polling and focus group projects, and she has served as an onsite campaign consultant in the national elections of Bulgaria and Romania, and select elections here in the US. A graduate of Duke University, Carolyn lives in San Francisco where she works from the firm’s headquarters.
Bryan manages the firm’s Little Rock office and has serviced some of the firm’s biggest clients, including Gov. Mike Huckabee (AR), Gov. Robert Bentley (AL), Attorney General Scott Pruitt (OK), Congressman Ted Yoho (FL), Congressman Trent Franks (AZ), and State Treasurer Lynn Fitch (MS).
Bryan was campaign manager for Gov. Robert Bentley’s successful campaign for the Republican nomination for Governor of Alabama in 2010. After the runoff, Bryan returned to his role as general consultant, media consultant and pollster for the Bentley campaign. The Bentley campaign for Governor was one of 2010’s biggest upsets.
In 2012 Bryan Sanders served as pollster and media consultant for Ted Yoho in his upset victory against Congressman Cliff Stearns in Florida, which Politico named, “One of the most unexpected upsets of the primary season.” Bryan wrote, produced, and directed Yoho’s TV ad “Pigs”, which the Washington Post named one of the best political ads of the year.
Bryan has worked on numerous state and national campaigns, including Governor Mike Huckabee’s campaign for president. In 2011 Campaign and Elections named Bryan one of its “Rising Stars of American Politics,” a distinction given to only 15 Republicans and 15 Democrats in the country each year.
A native of Kansas, Bryan began his career in Washington, D.C. as an aide to U.S. Senator Sam Brownback. He is a graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where he majored in Government. Bryan and his wife, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and their daughter Scarlett, live in Little Rock, Arkansas.
A key member of the team since 2003, Fanny keeps everything running smoothly in The Wickers Group’s accounting department. Her strong background in financial management, sales analysis and budgeting, and various administrative duties make her an integral part of our team. Fanny holds a B.A. in accounting from California State University-Hayward, and lives in the east bay with her husband and two daughters.News and Awards
